The Mitutoyo 505 series dial caliper uses a combination of a vernier scale and a dial whose pointer travels one rotation for each 0. 1 measured to perform precise outside diameter (OD), inside diameter (ID). The dial caliper has a fixed (main) scale and a movable dial, unlike the vernier caliper which has a second.
